Domain parking refers to the registration of a domain without the domain using any services, such as a mail server or a website. This may have been with a view to reserving the domain for a future website. Since the domain name registrar will have set name servers for the domain, the registrar or reseller has use of the domain rather than the final registrant.

The adverts are automatically added on a domain holder’s website domain when they either change the name servers or forward the URL. I have also seen some pages where the domain is listed as having an auction date. Some companies offer as much as 80% of the revenue back to the owner of the domain name. 80% is the most generous offer I have seen with some companies offering as little as 50% of the revenue generated back to the owner. Please research the company you plan to park your domain with, while many are reputable. I have heard some horror stories of domain holders not being paid by certain cash parking companies.
